new wall outlet
Planning to add a new outlet, the closest one to pull from is on the other side of a staircase so would be difficult to fish......any other suggestions?

A good design requires you to consider what else is on the circuit you are tapping into, and what load you plan for the new outlet. It also requires that you don't tap into a circuit that is restricted by code as to what is on it.
So tell us two things: (1) List everything that is currently on this circuit and what rooms they are in. (2) Tell us what this new outlet will provide power for.
Tapping from the closest outlet is not always the easiest place. If there is an attic above or a crawl space or basement below, that usually provides the easiest way to add another outlet.
