Question HELP! Problem with ceiling light installation!

I am trying to install a light in my dining room. The ceiling has a prewire for a ceiling fan and/or light and has a black wire, a red wire, a white wire, and a ground wire. The light I am trying to install has a ground wire, a black wire and a white wire. The instructions say to connect the black to black, the white to white, and the ground to ground. When I turn the power back on, the light comes on but the wall switch doesn't work. I've pulled the switch out and it is connected with a black, a red, and a ground. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

At the ceiling, connect the red (switched) wire to the black wire of the light fixture and cap off the black wire from the ceiling prewire.
