a problem like amanda's except...

I had a problem similar to amanda's except that, while I have a blown circuit and the breaker didn't trip, there is one outlet on that circuit that still works...it is a CFI outlet connected at the same terminal to a switch that does not work. I looked at it and cannot see a problem, but I am guessing that it is there somewhere....what do you think? The CFI breaker on the outlet tests and resets successfully.....but the rest of the circuit continues not to work even when I turn the breaker to that circuit off and then on again....

I am going to assum,e you mean GFI and not CFI, as I have no idea what CFI means.

First I would verify the wiring at the GFI outlet. I would see that the wires going to other circuits are connected properly and that they have power. ssuming no problems there then you need to check each and every outlet, switch or fixture on the circuit until you find the problem.

However, my suspicion is that you will find the problem at the GFI outlet.
