Unhappy Stinkin broken fan!

I have a ceiling fan/light that doesn't work. All the outlets in the room work, but the switch to the fan doesn't work and neither does just pulling the cords when the switch is in the on position. I would just like some information on where I need to start to assess the problem. Thanks!

Does any event correlate to the transition between the last time it did work and the first time it did not? Is there a remote control unit for this fan? Does anything in the rest of the house not work (e.g., the light in the next room)?

The first step might be to turn off and back on all of the 15-amp and 20-amp breakers in the panel.

The second step would usually be to see if power is getting to the ceiling. This would involve dropping the fan's bell housing at the ceiling and testing the wires with a voltmeter or neon circuit tester.

That's where I would start. Wouldn't be the first time a fan went bad.
