Our electrician put our garbage disposal on the same circuit as the garage. Is this OK?

It's certainly not going to hurt anything. You could have a problem if you try to grind up food while someone in the garage is running a table saw, but it would be a tripped breaker. The only other issue could be a tripped GFCI in the garage might take out the garbage disposal, if wired wrong, but it is not likely it is wired that way.
