Question Multiple Circuits In a Box

Can you have two (2) separate 15A or 20A/120V circuits in an
outlet or pull box box?

Thanks,
Bob

You certainly may, as long as both circuit are of the same voltage.
(meaning you can't mix a 277volt lighting circuit with a 120volt receptacle circuit in the same box.)

Yes, but you just keep the circuits separate. By that I mean that the hot wires and return wires from the first circuit must not connect to the other circuit. The ground wires, however, must be connected together.

Multiple Circuits in a Box

Thanks guys for the quick response to my question.
Appreciate the help.

PS: Have you ever used a digital camera to illustrate a particular
problem or solution and then posted it here on the forum?
If so with what success and how are they accessed on the
forum? Can you post more than one photo at a time? I use
a digital camera and it has become a wonderful tool for the
exchange of technical info. I hope that I will be able to post
an "example image" of a real problem for all to see soon.
Photos speak volumes.

Looking for comments and suggestion as to the best way to
post a digital image on the forum.

Thanks again,
Bob

I'm not busting your chops GreenJacket, but this comment is misleading.

Voltage has no bearing on sharing a junction/device box. 110/220 circuits share boxes all the time.

Wiring from two different systems cannot share the same box. 120/240 circuits cannot be run with wiring from 277/480 circuits.

Posting digital photos is a great idea. However, it only works if you have your own server space to put the photo, and then link to it from here.

Thanks Sparky for jumping in with the clarrification.
I am only dealing with 120/240V in a residential situation.

John Nelson,

Thanks for helping with the posting of digital photos.

I will work on it.

Are there any samples on this forum or another "diy" forum that you could point me to so that I might be able see a typical photo posting?

I saw this thread this morning but didn't post. I was hoping someone would post exactly what PATTBAA did.

On inserting pics. You need to upload a pic to your web server, usually your ISP. Then use this exact code, including the quotation marks, but replace the URL with your picture's URL:

{img src="www.yourpic'sURL.com"}

replace the { } with < >
