I live in a strobe

I just purchased my first home....built in the 1920's. When running appliances such as the washer or even the stove fan, the lights in the house flicker. Other symptoms include a flicker in my computer screen that worsens when appliances run. Anything I can do short of rewiring the entire house? I'll need to address the problem sooner than I can learn how to fix it myself. Just wondering what to expect.

If you search this forum for "dimming" or "flicker", you will probably find a lot of reading material (I didn't try it).

Light flickering can be caused by lots of different things. A loose connection in the panel or in the power company's equipment are most common. I'd start by calling the power company and asking them if they can come out and check over their equipment. If that approach fails, have a qualified person check the connections in your panel.

Couple of choices

Power Company needs bigger capacitaors on thier Hi Line feeding your house

Your Service is too Small!!! Minimum should be 100Amp 220 Volt

Or a loose main connection in your panel ( common with Aluminum Service entrance Cable)

Have a Competent Electrician Check this
