Question for the pros

I'd like to get a ballpark figure on what it will cost to replace a Federal Pacific 125A load center. It has 14 circuit breakers. Any help appreciated. Thanks!!

Probably about $1500 give or take a few hundred. It depends on whether or not your service wires need to be replaced or not. If your existing wires are still good, you might find somebody to do it for much less, say $600-800. Also largely dependent on your area and overall cost of living.

The load center and breakers will run about $75-100 for a Square D HomeLine panel.

Cost will vary *wildly* depending on your area, service replacements can run from $1200 to over $2800.

If your panel is an old federal, odds are the grounding performed at the time of it's installation will be inadequate for today's code. Be sure bids you get for this include a new grounding system and supplemental electrode. This is a good time to take care of the GFCI and AFCI protection the home lacks as well.
