cieling fan w/light question

I am replacing a ceiling fan with a light? The light is controlled with the wall switch, and the fan is controlled by the pull chain on the fan itself. My problem is, the wire to the light is not receiving power any more. The fan wire(always hot) is working, but the wire from the switch to the light is not. I have continuity across the switch when it is on, and no continuity when the switch is off, which I believe is normal. Why am I not recieving power at the ceiling thru the switched wire? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want us to spot what you did wrong, you'll have to first tell us what you did. Tell us all the wires that are present at the ceiling (all of them--not just the ones you may have used) and what you connected to what.

Thank you so much for replying. A friend who is an electrician came over and spotted the problem. The previous owner had wired the ceiling fans wrong. They worked, but they were wrong. He sorted it all out, and everything is working correctly now. Thank you so much for your time. Sorry for bothering y'all.

four wire to three wire

Hello, everyone and thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I am replacing an old built-in cooktop. The old cooktop had four wires (black-to-black, red-to-red, white-to-white and green-to-ground). The new cooktop I am installing only has three wires and the instructions are pretty clear about how they should be connected (black-to-black, red-to-red, green-to-ground). Ceiling light "globe nut"

Looking for a supplier. Need to find a replacement for the plastic nut which is used to hold a light globe onto a light fixture. This is a plastic nut which screws over the light socket (often in a ceiling fan light fixture) and holds the globe onto the fixture. Hopefully I am describing it well enough. Looked at HDepot and they did not carry them. Any suggestions?
