240v install.

hey folks, I'm new to the board and I'm seeking a little advice. I know quite a bit about Electricity and have worked with it alot but I don't have quite as much knowledge when it comes to Home wireing.

This is my problem. I need to run a 240V line from my Garage breaker box into my Kitchen to run the stove. All I need realy are some tips. I Understand that I need a spacific Breaker, wire and outlet but I'm not sure which ones to use. I can get all of the specs off the stove and figure it out if you point me in the right direction. I just don't want to burn my house down =-)

Thanks
Mike

Normally you need a 50-amp double-pole breaker, 6/3 cable, a 50-amp 4-hole receptacle, and a 50-amp 4-wire stove cord and plug. Check the installation instructions for the stove to be sure.

Where do you live?

In Canada, for ranges up to 12kW, #8 wire and a 2-pole 40A breaker will suffice. Eh?
