Question Wiring switch and 2 fixtures...source at fixture

I currently have a fixture and a switch. Source of power comes from fixture and is controlled by switch which I believe is called end of run switch. It is currently wired with 14/2 wires.

I want to add another light fixture inbetween the switch and light fixture already there.

So, the scenario goes like this....Source-light-light-switch

I tried on my own, but...im lost...thanks in advance for the help, bob

I am going to assume that there is a single piece of 14-2 going from the light to the switch. This is a switch loop. As such, you cannot add anything to it, as there is no neutral.

You will need to run a piece of 14-3 wire between the original light and the new light. Then you can use the existing 14-2 to the switch.

The 14-3 will carry return current on the white wire; switched hot on the red wire; and hot on the black wire.

Let us know if this makes sense, or if you need more help.

Or you could just leave everything as is and add a piece of 14/2 from the 1st light to the new light.

thanks for the responses. Yes , i do want the new light inbetween the switch and the other light.

I need specific wiring directions...as to where the 4 wires go at the old light....where do the 7 wires go at the new light...

So, what im getting is switch to new light with 14/2....14/3 between the new and old light, ...i need to know black to etc...have no clue...

Im not too good at this, thanks, bob...

At the existing light you have power coming in on a 14-2 wire.

You have a piece of 14-3 running to the new light.

Then you have a piece of 14-2 running to the switch.

At the old light: Connect the white power wire and the white 14-3 wire together with the white wire for the light. Connect the black power wire and the black 14-3 wire together. Connect the red 14-3 wire to the black wire for the light.

At the new light: Connect the white 14-3 wire to the white wire for the light. Connect the black 14-3 wire to the black wire going to the switch. Connect the white wire from the switch to the red 14-3 wire and to the black wire for the light.

At the switch: The black and white wires go to either side of the switch.

Any and all bare ground wires are connected together, to the metal box and to the switch or light as appropriate.
