dimmer switch (WARM)
I have 12 recessed lights on one circuit for a total of 700 WATTS.
After I put in a dimmer switch I found out that it wasn't rated for that many watts. I knew it got fairly warm.
I now purchased a new 1000 Watt Leviton dimmer. In order to get it in a multi gang box I needed to take off the side tabs which said you would need to do but then the maximum rating would be 700 Watts which is exactly what I have.
It still gets fairly warm. Is this normal? Or do I need to buy even a better switch if that is possible?
Just want to be sure I am doing everything safely.
I have had my project approved by the City and nothing was said about the switches that I was using.
Thanks,
Harlan.
