What brand is the GDO?

Does it hit the floor before it reverses and goes back up? If so, the downward limit needs to be adjusted. Perhaps you've had a bit of ground heave. The downward limit is usually just a small screw on the motor housing. Make very small incremental adjustments.

Sounds like the down position or force out of adjustment. The door is thinking it has hit somthing and the saftey switch is reversing it.
