Question Light Bulb "Pings"

I have three light fixtures that make a pinging sound occassionally. Typically when the light is turned off. The house was built in 1897 and totally rewired back in the 80's. The previous owner was an electrician. The fixtures are not on the same circuit. One is an exterior light on an addition that was built in 1998. One is in my office upstairs which is rarely used because I don't typically work after dark. The third is our bedroom light.

Is this an issue with the fixture itself, something that light bulbs just "do" occassionally, or an issue in the wiring?

Thanks for any insight.

Have you tried replacing the bulbs? That's the cheapest and easiest place to start.

If not the bulbs, try the fixtures.

Good luck!
