I assume you have a few more wires too - usually a black, a white, a blue and a red, or something to that effect.
Black and White are usually your incoming power wires (from the house), the blue goes to the light's black wire on the fan, and the red to the fan's black wire - but, check the instructions for your particular controller. It may help to know what model you are working with, or at least the manufacturer.
Typically the neutral is shared (white wire), but not always.
If you can't find a model number and manufacturer, tell us more about the controller - how many wires, what color are they, etc.
Good luck!

The Black and White by themselves will be the house side - just connect black-black and white-white. The other side is going to be the fan/light side - white-white, black-fan black, blue-light black (this will depend on your your light kit and fan assembly, but usually the light kit has a black or blue for the hot.)
Good luck!

Most ceiling fans that come with a remote also come with an extra sheet of instructions for just the remote receiver connections. Sometimes this sheet is mistakenly put aside with the registration paperwork and overlooked.
However, it's pretty simple and SafeWatch has told you all you really need to know.
