Question Wire to drip irrigation valve cut in two

We are trying to troubleshoot the drip irrigation system in a house we just bought and found one of the wires to a zone cut in half (probably by their previous gardener) and just swinging in the bushes. Is there a simple, safe way to re-join these two wires? They seem to operate 3 zones on our system so are rather important. Besides turning off the electricity to the control box, are their other safety measures? Thanks.

It's low voltage, so few rules apply. I'd buy a waterproof wire nut (it has goop inside it) and screw it on. Or you could probably use a regular wire nut and fill it with silicone caulk after making the connection.

I have regular wire nuts but if I go that route, is the silicone caulk you recommend the same I have to caulk the sink? Thanks.

Use GE silicone II that will be best for outdoors.

I have no idea what caulk you use to caulk your sink. But if it's latex caulk, then no, don't use it. Use 100% silicone caulk. JOHNJOHN's suggestion is one such caulk.

Red face wire to drip irrigation valve cut in two

It took a while but I did get some silicone caulk as suggested to waterproof the connection and successfully re-connected the wires that were cut. Thanks to all!
