Can u install breaker box from dryer recep.

Hi
I am wiring my attached garage for 15 amp receptacles with a breaker box
with 2 15mp breakers. The laundry room next to the garage has an unused
30 amp dryer receptacle. Could I use dryer plug and run wires to the garage
and use this source for the breaker box? It would save me running wires
from my home breaker box to the garage.

tks

Maybe. If the dryer plug is new then it is four wire, which is what you need. If it is three wire then you can't use it. You would have to convert the plug to a junction box and then run the additional four wire cable to the subpanel.

Why are you wiring your garage with 15 amp receptacles? You might better use 20 amp receptacles.

Also, you should consider the electrical needs in the garage. Depending on what you want to do, 30 amp may or may not be enough.

If your asking can you use the dryer receptacle, the answer is no.But you can however use the breaker the dryer line was connected to and run new #10 AWG to a 2 circuit breakerbox.Depending upon the size of the main service you can run a larger AWG from the main panel to a subpanel sized accordingly.

I'm not quite sure why so many people want to use the dryer circuit to power other things. It's like that dryer circuit just sits there as an irresistable temptation to do something stupid. In most cases, it's a poor plan. It is usually better and no harder to just run a new circuit or feeder.
