Question How much power do I need?

I want to wire up my home. What would be a decent setup?

There are many factors that enter into a question like this. You need to do a demand calculation. This calculation will take into consideration the size of the house, and takes into account whethe you will be using electric for certain appliances (such as dryer, range, hot water, etc.).

Consult an electrician for help, or at the very least read several good books.

A decent setup would be a meter, a panel, some breakers, a bunch of wire, some receptacles, some switches, some lights, some smoke detectors, and some appliances. I'd say that would about do it.

Add a couple of ground rods, GFCi receptacles, AfCI breakers.
