This is a pretty simple project, but there is more than one way to do it. Didn't a diagram come with the unit? Most home wiring books will contain similar diagrams, but because there are so many possibilities, it is hard to find a diagram for every situation.

If you have specific questions, you can ask them here. We can more easily deal with specific questions or problems than generalities.

Okay, that question is ever so much easier to deal with than your first question. I only have to describe one way to do it rather than every possible way to do it.

I'll assume we're talking about 12-gauge wire here. If you have 14-gauge instead, change all my "12"s to "14"s. I'll also assume that you are using NM-B cable (commonly called by its brand name "Romex"). I'll also assume that these two switches are separate devices in a double-gang box. If any of these assumptions are incorrect, let me know.

There are three 12/2 cables in the box. The power cable, the cable to the light, and the cable to the fan. Each cable has three wires, one black, one white, and one bare. If this isn't right, let me know.

First, connect all three bare grounding wires to each other, and to two bare pigtails (several inch section of wire). Use a wire nut (probably red). Connect one pigtail to the green screw on each switch.

Next, connect all three white wires to each other with a wire nut. Shove this wire nut into the back of the box since we won't need it again.

Next, connect the power cable black wire to two black pigtails with a wire nut. Connect the other end of each pigtail to one screw on each switch.

Finally, connect the two remaining black wires to the remaining screws on each switch.

Is this all clear?
