wiring a middle of the run switch

I have three sets of cables coming into a new switch. One is bringing power in and is powering a set of other switches. There is a black pigtale that is capped. I know to power a switch I need two hots. There is no white with black tape (hot) to power the switch. Please help!

We need the bigger picture. What did you start with, what new stuff did you add, and what are you trying to accomplish?

Please allow me to re-state your description--- " there are 3 cables coming into a switch outlet-box-----"

Please indentify each cable by the # of conductors---ex: " there are two 2-wire cables, and one 3-wire cable---"

# of switches connected-- 1 or 2?

types of switches--- 2 single-poles or 1 single-pole and 1 3-way?

What cable-conductor connects to a switch or another cable-conductor. Ex--- "All 3 White wires connect together"

Are you trying to connect an new switch, or re-place a defective switch?

Good Luck & Enjoy the Experience!!!!!!!!!!
