open ground on outlet

Had a home inspection today and the inspector said I had an open ground at the outlet on my bathroom vanity. When I take off the plate the ground wire and all other wires are firmly attached. What might he be talking about and what should I do to correct this! Gotta sell the house!!!!

Could be disconnected somewhere else on the circuit? Does this outlet even have a grounding hole? Check the grounding connections in nearby boxes, including both switch and receptacle boxes and lighting fixtures.

Are you sure he said no grounding and not no ground fault protection?

Spend $8 on an outlet tester at your home center and do the same test he did. See if you get his results. Is this the only outlet in the house with an open ground?

All you need for testing-puposes is a simple test-lamp socket.

The Equiptment Grounding Conductor ( "ground-wire") parallels the Neutral (White wire) all the way back to the "source", i.e., the breaker panel, where he Neutral and EGC connect together. Testing for voltage, "Live" (Black wire) to Neutral, is similair to testing for voltage "Live" to the EGC.

If the test lamp indicates voltage Black-to-White, but zero voltage Black-to-EGC, then there is a break in the EGC.

Please perform these teo voltage tests and submit the results.

Good Luck & Enjoy the Experience!!!!!!!!!!!11
