Not getting 240v in main panel

In my main panel I have a 4 wire service entrance cable. 2 black, 1 white and
a bare. When I measure between the 2 black hot conductors I don't get any
voltage reading. If i measure between either one of the black conductors and the white conductor I get about 110v. This all started because none of
my 240v equipment works. Like the water heater or the dryer.

Any ideals whats wrong?

Thanks,

This just started happening one day out of the blue?

If this is your main panel directly from the power company meter, and if you haven't touched anything since the last time it worked, the call your power company ASAP.

You lost one of your incoming legs.

It could be a power company problem. A few years ago we had one of our underground service lateral conductors self-destruct. The power company was out digging in the middle of the night to find the break and repair it.

It could also be your problem in the meter base or your service disconnect (if your SD is separate from your main panelboard). Over the weekend we had one leg lose most of its voltage at my Dad's place; that turned out to be in the meter base and will require replacement of the meter base.

If you have a separate Service Disconnect, check the legs for voltage there.
If your "main breaker" is where the power comes in from your meter - call the power company. They will pull the meter and isolate where the problem is.

This is actualy at my uncles house. It is the main panel coming from the
meter. There is a 2 pole 100 amp main breaker in the panel. This is where
I am getting no voltage when measuring between the 2 black conductors.

He is saying that they tried to turn on the air conditioner and it did not
come on. Then they noticed the water heated was not working either.

I will have him contact the utility and have them check there stuff at the
meter.

Thanks,
