Question Pool Light wiring

I am doing the wiring for my inground pool. I have a question about the wiring for the light. Code requires to run the wires from the pool light junction box to the sub-panel via conduit the entire way. The inspector told me to then run regular 12-2 wire form the sub-panel to the light switch. How is the connection made in the sub-panel??

The white wire from the 12/2 goes to the breaker, be sure to mark this wire on both ends with black tape to identify it as hot wire. The black wire from the 12/2 goes to the light hot wire. The bare wire from the 12/2 goes to the ground bar. The neutral(white) wire from the light goes to the neutral bar and the green or bare from the light goes to the ground bar.

Another question concerning the wiring on the light--The inspector wants a GFI breaker for the light. On a GFI the white and black both connect to the breaker and it's own white connects to the board. How then would I deal with the black wires??

I actually may be helping two other friends do the same thing. You can save up to half the cost of getting it through a pool dealer. I bought the kit on line, subed out the excavating and the bottom. The weather was the worst part (lots of rain in the spring)

I had assumed you were using a gfi breaker from the beginning, sorry. All you should have to do is put the wire you had on the original breaker(white wire with black tape) on to the gfi breaker. So now you should have the white wire from the light fixture connected to the designated terminal on the gfi breaker, the black wire from the light wire nutted to the black wire from the switch, the white wire with black tape that goes to the switch connected to the breaker and the white wire of the gfi breaker connected to the neutral bar.
