Exclamation Possible electrical problem....

I've recently purchased a new home that is 29 years old. The wiring in the house seems to be in good shape. I have a 150 amp circuit breaker with one open slot. However, when I use my washing machine my lights in the house began to pulse to the washing machine's engine. I've traced the circuit and verified that it is a 20 amp breaker. There are no other appliances or lights on the circuit. My washing machine has a rating of 10 amps. What could be wrong? Please advise.....Thanks in advance....

We've heard reports of lights pulsing to a washing machine before. See if you can talk your power company into monitoring your supply voltage while your washing machine is on. They'll also tighten up their connections when they come out.

I'll bet your washer is a Whirlpool?
Apparently there is an uneven loading on the motor, which causes a fluctuating current draw on these machines.

Check the tightness of all your neutrals in the main panel - even the one from the meter base.
