Electric and Cable Combo

I recently ran some electrical (14/2) and cable tv conduit from our garage electrical source (on GFI) out to a gazebo using PVC pipe. It's about a 40 foot run from the garage to the gazebo. I intend to connect the cable conduit to the house's cable via splitter. Someone told me that I should not have put them both together in the same pipe because the electrical will effect the cable tv signal (making it worse). Is that true?

It may or may not affect the picture quality but it is a code violation to run them in the same conduit. If something was to happen the 120 wire you could get 120 volts onto the cable wire which would be bad for the TV and anyone trying to disconnect the cable from the TV.

Yikes Well ... glad I didn't connect the cable tv to the source yet! Thanks for letting me know.
