Question Expanding a pre-existing electric circuit

I opened up an exterior wall to installwindows and French door. While I'm in there I want to make some lighting changes. Right now there is wiring coming in to a basic electric outlet. I want to keep the outlet and also extend the circuit to include: 4 lights (2 inside) (2 outside). Each set of lights needs its own switch. Any takers?

I would first find out what's on the circuit right now. That will determine whether you can expand or if you'll have to run a new circuit.

This is an excellent first electrical project for a DIYer. Almost all books on home wiring cover this kind of simple project much better than we could, and the books have safety tips, best practices techniques, and colorful step-by-step pictures. Good luck, and we're here to help with any questions that arise.

But do what mgb said first. No sense adding lights to this circuit only to find out that the breaker blows every time you turn them on. That's a real bummer.
