Wiring light?

It's been a while since I did any wiring. I have a room gutted and pulled the wires but I cant remember if I can run the hot wire to the switch box and then run a wire up to the light or do I need to run hot to the light and then switch loop the switch. I have receptalces on the same circuit and do not want my switch cutting off the rest of the circuit.

I don't want to have to pull down the sheetrock and redo it. Sheetrock is going in before the power is turned back on.

thanks

Although it can be done either way as mgb says, there are far fewer mistakes to be made (both now and later) if you run the power to the switch box and then from there to the light. So unless you have some strong reason to do it the other way around, do it that way.
