Hiding the wire..

Thanks in advance for your help. I bought a clock to hang in the garage. The cord plugs into an outlet and had a 'on/off' switch built into the cord. However it hangs down the wall to the outlet and looks ugly. Can I run the cord inside the wall and down to the outlet? And if so, how do I then plug it into the outlet from inside the wall.

You have a clock with an on/off switch? How odd.

No, you may not run the cord inside the wall. That would be a fire hazard and a code violation. The proper solution is to install a clock receptacle (special recessed box) directly behind the clock and and plug the cord in behind the clock.
