Kitchen wiring question

I'm remodeling my kitchen and the stove is moving. Can I put the existing 220 wire for the range into a junction box and run a new wire from it to the new location, or do I have to run a new wire back to the panel and remove the old wire?
Thanks.

Sure you can. The box MUST remain accessible and you must use approved connectors for the type of wire that is in the cable. IE; blue wire nuts, split bolts, etc.
