New basement wiring

Hi,

I'm finishing my basement. Right now there is a 15 amp
circuit supplying a couple of outlets and 6 ceiling lights.

I'd like to keep the present circuit and add 12 recessed lights
and 12 outlets, 4 sconces, 2 GFI outlets, and 2 bathroom lights.

My plan is to add 3 20 amp circuits, 1 for outlets,
(might have dehumidifier and home theater on it)
1 for 12 recessed lights, and a GFI breaker circuit for the
bath outlets, lights and sconces.

Does this sound like a reasonable plan? Anything better?

A lot depends on whether your basement is 300 square feet or 1600 square feet. When I finished my 800-square foot basement, I used seven 20-amp circuits. A few notes:
  • The GFCI circuit you mention cannot serve anything outside the bathroom.
  • I would have at least two receptacles circuits, maybe more depending on the size of the basement.
