where can you put an electrical box

I have a breaker box in my basement, and we are finishing it. The box is on the wall that I want to put a closet at. Is it O.K. to have it in the closet. I planed on putting a door right where it is at.

That depends. What sort of closet is this? How much clearance will be at and in front of the panel when the closet door is open?

Check below on this page for the thread titled sub panel installation question - by underwood. It may answer most of your questions or lead you to new ones.

Clothes closet: no.
Storage closet: probably not.
Utility or mechanical closet: maybe, if the clearances can be met.
