Subpanel installation

One last question (hopefully ) :

I plan to install subpanel in my the basement I'm finishing now.
Is there any restrictions on subpanel location? Can it be installed on a partition wall (not far from outside wall in my case)?

Thank you

There are a number of restrictions, but none that preclude installation in a partition wall. Most of the requirements concern clearance. You need a space in front of the panel that is 30" wide, 36" deep, and 6'6" high. I always tell people to envision a big refrigerator box with those dimensions, You need to be able to place this box on the floor against the subpanel and push it up to touch and cover the subpanel door without obstruction.

Other requirements concern what it can be in the vicinity of and what kind of room it can be in. It can be in neither a clothes closet nor a bathroom, and it can't be in a room with easily ignitable material.

Thanks John.
Very good answer. Now it's clear.
I think I found a place for it.
