Question HOW-TO for a granite lamppost?

Hey folks

I'd like to install a granite lamppost in my yard. A place nearby sells them with a hole drilled up the middle to run the wire. My question is this:

I'd like to install an outlet box near the bottom of the post. How would I attach the outlet box to the granite post? Epoxy? Drill screw holes? I'm guessing duct tape is out. :-)

I'm planning on running the wire up the conduit to the outlet box, then back down the conduit in order to go up the center of the post. Is this how it's typically done? I'd like to do this myself, as I'm comfortable with doing wiring properly, but I'm not above calling in the pros for certain situations.

I appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Must the receptacle be on the granite lamppost? Or could it be mounted somewhere else in the area, maybe on it's own redwood post.

Maybe ask the place...

that sells the lamp post if they could cut out for the outlet box for you? They may be able to cut and install the box for a small additional charge....It would probably save you some aggrevation!
