Romex and Insulation

Re-wired a bedroom with all new 12-2 going into attic and now want to re-insulate room with standard fiberglass insulation with batting on one side. What is the rule as to the location of romex behind or in front of the paper of the insulation.

Is it ok to just put the insulation in over the romex wire and call it a day, or do you need to channel out the insulation, or simply make sure the wire is on the interior side of the insulation?

It makes no difference to the romex. For best insilation quality it is best not to compress the insulation. Splitting it opens and putting some on both sides is best in my opinion.
