Wire runs in studs . . .

I was wondering if there are any codes that dictate how far away from the outlet boxes the wire can be run? I didn't think so, so, I drilled away and then ended up reading that 1' was agood distance. unfortunately I am 8" above the boxes. Is this ok?

You're fine. The one-foot recommendation is generally so that you have enough room to staple the cable before it needs to go through the hole. You can probably still squeeze it in, but it will be more difficult.
