Bare copper wire used as ground?

Hi, I just installed a ceiling fan, light fixture and a dimmer switch in my new house. All is working fine but I just wanted to make set my mind at ease.I connected the ground to the Bare copper wire that runs through all the junction boxes, is this correct? Thanks for any comments and additional info.

Yes, the ground is usually bare copper, but it can also have a green sheathing or a green sheathing with a yellow stripe (this is rare in residential).
