Wiring

In my garage I pulled 8 gauge 45 ft to my 5 hp 1- phase 220v air compressor which pulls 20-22 amps. Ground wire is 10 gauge. All in sch 40 PVC 3/4"conduit.

I installed a "Disconnect Switch" box in line which has 30 amp fuses and connects to the service panel 30 amp breaker.

If I pull 3 more 10 gauge and install a 20 amp 220 v receptacle in the same line, can I attached the two hots under the same lugs in the "Disconnect Switch" box??

Thanks
John

No, for multiple reasons. I say this without even quite understanding what you mean (but I don't really need to). Can you please clarify your last paragraph, just to satisfy my curiosity?

To simplify

Can you have more than one wire connected to the leg of a source?

Sorry, it must be me. That makes even less sense to me.

I think he wants to add a second receptacle on the same circuit and connect the new wires to the same disconnect as the first receptacle. The answer is if the disconnect terminals are rated for 2 wires then yes you can.

Joe, now that you say it that way, it makes sense. I got off track by the use of the word "pull". I thought he was connecting more wires to the line side of the switch. I see now that he's probably talking about more wires to the load side of the switch.
