What kind of outlet is this?
Our refrigerator is plugged into an outlet that has a neutral slot shaped like a "T", unlike the rest of the neutral outlets that have a vertical slot. Also, the face of the outlet is circular and not oval.
What kind of outlet is this?
Thanks.

If I wasn't clear on the initial posting, the refrigerator plug looks like a normal 3-pronged plug. That is, the neutral prong is parallel with the positive prong.

The refridgerator plug is a standard 15 amp plug. The receptacle is a 20 amp device and since it is round I assume it is a single device as opposed to a duplex. The only reason to use 20 amp devices is if the circuit only has one single receptacle on it. If it is a duplex the devices can be either 15 or 20 amp when used on a 20 amp circuit.
I have seen too many houses with all 20 amp devices in kitchens and dining rooms. This is just mis-interpretation of the code. I have never seen a home appliance that needed a true 20 amp receptacle.
OK, I did have a big Bunn coffee maker but this was a commercial machine.
