am i grounded?
#1

i live in an old victorian and the previous owners added lots of new outlets connected by wire mould (i think that's what it's called). i want to check if these outlets are grounded. can you advise me how to tell? thank you.

There are a number of different ways. If the receptacles have a grounding hole, the simplest is to spend $8 on an outlet tester at your home center. Plug it in. Read the lights. Note that this tester can only tell if you have a grounding connection--it can't tell if the grounding connection is legal or good. But it's a start.
It can also be done with neon circuit tester or with a multimeter. If you have one of those and no outlet tester, let us know (although I would encourage you to get the outlet tester anyway).
Wiremold. It's a brand name. http://www.wiremold.com
