temporary electric

i need to run a temporary electric from existing home to the construction site of new home which is about 300 feet what size wire do i need to make this run framers are going to start mon. and rural electric service wont be there for at least two weeks by then framing will be done?

Well, I believe it has to be in protective conduit (and burried I think). They say a "rule of thumb" is to go to the next size bigger for every 100 ft. So, if you were running a 100 amp temp service panel at the house you would need #4 copper for under 100, #3 for under 200, #2 for under 300ft. This would be extremly costly and I think i'd just go out and buy a generator if costs were too great. But I don't know your circumstance.

The wire size may not be correct but you get the idea. John and some of the others should be able to give you some more specifics. I'm just DIY with limited knowlege.

all i need is 1 or 2 20 amp circuit
