Troubled with old system
#1

I need to get an idea if it is easily possible and a ball park cost for a electrical project. When the house was remodeled forty years ago, "this whole electricity thing" would never catch on. All the outlets in 4 rooms and part of a 5th was run to one breaker--a 15 amp. The breaker box is at the far end of the 200 yr old half of the house with a crawl space and only ceiling tile and 2x6 in the crawl space in the attic. Four of the rooms are in the newer space which has a full basement and full attic with tongue & groove covering the attic floor. I must be very carefull what I turn on and make sure nothing else is on. I need about 5 new outlets 85 feet away from the breaker box that needs replacement. I hope this is enough information to start on. I would appreciate any help or advice.

I would encourage you to think of this project as adding new receptacles on a new circuit, rather than replacing anything. You can leave the old receptacles alone. You're probably looking at something in the small number of hundreds of dollars, much less if you learn how to do this yourself. More in Boston, less in Salina.
