How do I wire a combination swtich and receptacle with receptacle hot all the time and the switch to another appliance?

Is this a new installation? Are you trying to replace an existing switch only? What is your setup?
Hot to receptacle hot and one side of switch (usually two brass screws tied together with a removeable tab). Neutral wire to receptacle silver screw. Switch wire for device to other side of switch. Ground wire(s) to green ground screw.
If you don't have at least the screws above them you can't install the combination device. The only exception would be the ground wire, if the circuit is GFCI protected.
