New Water Heater
New water heater arrived...5500 watts...30 amp breaker
No #10 wire in my small city so daughter picked it up.
The #10 red and black are solid wire, the green #10 is stranded.
I don't like the stranded wire to wrap around the ground screw, just seems mickey mouse to me.
Can I use #12 solid for the ground?
Length from panel maybe 30 feet.
Thanks,
Baldwin

Why don't you crimp a nice terminal end on the stranded wire and hook that under the screw. That will look professional and you can still use the stranded ground wire.
