meter base

If my meter base is rated @ 100 amps and I want to upgrade to 200 amps in order to change my 100 amp service to 200 amp, will the power company have to change their meter?

The meter itself is the responsibility of the POCO. If it needs to be changed they will change it. If it is a standard plug in style meter it is normally not replaced.

In some area the POCO is also responsible for the meter base, but this is not the norm. Typically a service replacement is everything from the weatherhead down to the panel and grounding/bonding, and everything in between. This is all the responsibility of the customer.

Maybe, but only they can answer that. There may be other things that need replacing too.
