NM allowed?

How do I find out if NM is allowed in my town? I live in Elmwood Park, IL (a suburb of chicago near oak park) I have heard that in Chicago conduit is required. Hopefully that is not true in my town which borders Chicago because there is alot of BX already ran throughout the house.

Thanks

Talk to the AHJ. AHJ mean authority having jurisdiction. The AHJ is usually the town or the county. They may have a third party that does the inspections, so you may end up talking to them.

Most of Chicagoland thinks it is more succeptable to fire than the rest of the country. I know conduit is required in much of the area.

Like Racraft said though, the only way to be sure is to check with the powers that be.
