12 volt lights and dimmer switch
I installed 6 12volt lights and a dimmer switch. The switch shuts the lights on and off, but does not dim the lights. The lights each have a seperate electronic transformer, and the dimmer is designed for 12 volt electronic transformer lights. The dimmer capacity is 600 watts and these lights are only 50 watts each for a total of 300 watts.
The wiring for the switch is straight forward. Whites in the box are connencted to each other only. The blacks are conneted to the switch. The conforms to the instuctions that came with the dimmer.
Finally this is the second dimmer switch I have tried (same model and brand) so I assume it is not a faulty dimmer.

The instructions for the lights cleary state that to dim the lights use a electronic low voltage dimmer and the dimmer is clearly marked as a low voltage electonic dimmer. The dimmer is a relatively cheap ($15) Commerical Electric brand and the cheapest Lutron dimmer (low voltage electonic) I found was for $50. Am I getting what I pay for?
