Adding Baseboard Heaters

I want to add electrical baseboard heaters to my second floor bathroom and attic bedroom. What type of electrical knowledge do I need to do this? Should I hire an electrician, or is this a DIY job? I have one empty wire on its own breaker running upstairs already, but am confused by what it takes to add a 220v or 240v heater. Thanks.

There are small baseboard htrs on the market that operate on 120v. But the deciding factor is the gauge of the wire you have going upstairs. For example if its 14 AWG the circuit ampacity is 15.The branch circuit must be rated at 125% of the load.Therfore if you were to get 2 500w/120v units {1 for each room} it is within the circuit rating.
