Romex in attic

Romex in attic

Hello we have romex run in all diff directions most not anchored. Iam splitting a ckt. for load safety. Added up things running. Question is what are a few good rules of thumb about romex running over the top of each other and next to each other . Thanks WP

Crossing at right angles (or close to right angles) is not an issue. You do have a problem with cable running parallel. Cables that run parallel for any length of time need to be derated. This means that a larger diameter cable is needed to safely carry the same current.
