There are two type of metal jacketed flexible cable (conductors pre-installed), armored cable (AC Cable) and metal clad cable (MC Cable). I think MC cable is available in both aluminum and steel, but AC cable is only one type. MC cable has a dedicated insulated equipment grounding conductor, whereas the AC cable relies on the spiral jacket with the bare shorting wire within the jacket.
In most cases for residential, AC cable is fine. To be more safe, MC cable. Aluminum is not as heavy as the steel.
