Using 15 Amp recepticles on a 20 Amp Circuit

I have a simple question. Is it within code to have 15 Amp rated recepticles on a 20 Amp circuit w/ #12 wire?

Thanks!

In the U.S., yes. Probably 99% of all receptacles on residental 20-amp circuits in the U.S. are 15-amp receptacles.

If an appliance, eg. an air conditioner, requires a 20 amp outlet, the plug on the appliance will not fit into a 15 amp receptacle. SO, the device is protected from being over-amped.
